The Twenty Goofiest Movie Monsters of All Time
Our own Scott Foy has compiled a list. A very special list.
"Inspired by all those endless lists of the "50 Best..." and the "50 Worst..." that TV Guide, the American Film Institute, Maxim Magazine, Billboard Magazine, and every other media outlet seemed to be doing one of, I decided to get into the game with my own list of the 20 goofiest looking movie monsters of all time."

Thanksgiving Turkeys
I believe it's been five years since the last Turkey Day MST3K marathon, but the Satellite News does have some pleasant things to report for MSTies.
• The Sci Fi channel renewed its contract with Best Brains, Inc. to continue airing re-runs of the show until January 31, 2004. (Previously it was thought that the contract would expire this coming January.) "Of course, such a contract doesn't REQUIRE the channel to put episodes on, it just gives them the RIGHT to. But our sources tell us long range plans at the channel have the show on the schedule well into next year."
• The Starz! cable channel will be showing MST3K: The Movie throughout the month of December. The schedule is as follows (times are Eastern/Pacific, as Starz has a West coast and an East coast channel):
Monday, Dec 2 - 2:45PM Saturday, Dec 14 - 11:45AM Wednesday, Dec 18 - 7:20AM Tuesday, Dec 24 - 1:05PM Saturday, Dec 28 - 3:15AM
Given that the film itself is out of print on DVD and has become increasingly expensive as a used item, this is a good chance to watch it without spending a fortune.
From all of us at badmovies.net: Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Good morning, Mr. & Mrs. Fanboy and all the geeks at sea, let’s go to press.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! At long last! Finally it has arrived! SHARK ATTACK 3: MEGALODON is sitting on the shelf of your local video store as we speak! If you need further enticement, then head over to Fangoria’s website and take a look at they’re page one story on the flick complete with a movie still of the title shark swallowing a motorboat whole. Praise the lord and pass the cheese! What are you waiting for?
Speaking of movies about man-eating animals, The Fiji Times newspaper reported over the weekend that the highly (cough) anticipated ANACONDA 2 will be filmed on location in the Fiji Islands. No other details about the project are known at this time. Let’s keep it that way, thank you very much.
Sometimes an actor gets cast in a role they’re all wrong for and then other times, on rare occasions these days, the casting is dead solid perfect. In the case of the latest movie version of Victor Hugo’s masterpiece THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, the casting of French megastar Gerard Depardieu as Quasimodo is a perfect choice. For some strange reason though, a make-up artist has been hired to ensure that the French sex symbol looks the part. What? All he needs is a hump! Fangoria reports that filming begins in Germany and Paris in the spring.
Variety reports that Kate (PEARL HARBOR) Beckinsale has joined the cast of MUMMYmeister Stephen Sommers’ VAN HELSING as the love interest for the title character to be played by Hugh (X-MEN) Jackman. No professional wrestlers have been cast as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
Even though the Wayans family is no longer involved in the forthcoming SCARY MOVIE 3, series starlet Anna Faris will return to the lead role she’s played in the first two. Oh, like she’s getting better offers elsewhere! Please, she’ll next be seen playing Rob Schneider’s love interest in THE HOT CHICK. I remember seeing SCARY MOVIE 2 in a partially empty dollar theater that kept getting emptier by the minute and actually found myself feeling sorry for this poor girl as she tried desperately to squeeze every ounce of nonexistent comedy out of the script with no avail. When you’re watching a movie that’s so bad you actually feel pity for its performers, that’s a surefire sign that the film you’re watching is beyond awful.
Another week, another TV show being made into a feature film. This time the show in question is 21 JUMP STREET, which most of you probably remember as being about youthful looking cops who go undercover in high schools. You may also remember it as the show that launched Johnny Depp’s career and unleashed the horror that is Richard Grieco upon mankind. It’s highly doubtful that Mr. Depp will turn up in this film version although I’m almost certain that Mr. Grieco is more than available. Ironically, the show which was one of the, if the not the, first programs to air on the Fox Network will be made into a movie by rival Paramount. Maybe it’s just me, but I get the feeling that a 21 JUMP STREET movie is really going to be an awful lot like that awful MOD SQUAD movie crossbred with THE SUBSTITUTE.
MTG News reports that filming will begin on December 12, 2002 with a 2004 release date scheduled for the big screen version of the popular, not to mention expensive, collectible card game MAGIC: THE GATHERING. In addition, the movie will be released to theaters in a series of 5 minute installments each of which viewers will have to pay full price to see. Okay, I made that last part up.
On the official website of the upcoming movie version of the video game HOUSE OF THE DEAD, the film’s crackpot German director is already claiming that a sequel is in the works. The first film doesn’t even have a distributor or a released date, yet he’s already planning a sequel? Getting ahead of ourselves, aren’t we? If you’ve been following this project then you this guy is either in completely over his head or simply doesn’t have a clue. This is the same director who at one point was going to include actual footage of the video game inserted into the movie during some of the action scenes until the site got flooded with negative emails telling him that was one of the worst ideas ever.
In an interview with Zap2It, actor Adam (WINDTALKERS) Beach claims that he and pal Hayden (aka young Anakin Skywalker) Christensen are themselves working on adapting the video game TUROK: DINOSAUR HUNTER to the big screen. Umm…okay.
Wanna view 3 minutes of the brand new Godzilla movie? Well, you can see what amounts to a 160 second extended trailer for GODZILLA X MECHAGODZILLA as well as a shorter version of the original trailer on the 111.tv web site.
Finally, if you frequent the message board of that other site with the BADMOVIES moniker, than you’ve probably seen some discussion of this new low budget monster movie called MONSTURD. Well, I dared to get my hands on a copy and then dared to actually write a review and send it to Ain’t It Cool News of all places where it fell into the hands of Moriarty himself who was brave enough to post it on the website. So, is this monster movie spoof about a fecal matter monster worth watching? Find out for yourself by reading my MONSTURD review currently up at Ain’t It Cool News or if you’re too lazy to look around their front page for it, here's the link.
If you’re still reading this it probably means you haven’t been gone out and picked up a copy of SHARK ATTACK 3: MEGALODON yet. What’s the problem? Go now!

DVDs are for watching
Monterey Media announced last week that they will release two of the Cheri "Ginger" Caffaro films to home video this fall. Ginger is available now, and The Abductors will be released on December 24. Both Ginger and The Abductors will be available on VHS and DVD. Neither film appears to be packaged with much in the way of extras. Perhaps we can hope for better treatment when the company releases Girls Are For Loving in the summer of 2003.
Not familiar with the Ginger series? Here are some links to get you started. (Warning, potentially offensive content ahead.)
