What do giant monsters, immortal psycho slashers, fast cars, killer flies, and George Clooney’s naked behind all have in common? Why they’re all part of the news for Friday, November 15, 2002!

Screw FREDDY VS. JASON and BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, the real battle we’ve all been waiting for is close to becoming reality! I speak of GODZILLA VS. GAMERA! It’s a very long story, but you can read all the details right now at Henshin Online about how the new head of the studio that was once Daiei is negotiating with Toho to bring the ultimate battle of the behemoths to the big screen. Are the odds strongly against this actually happening? Yes. But the fact that it’s actually being discussed seriously is huge news and shows that it could in fact happen in the very near future. Even if this cinematic clash of the titans doesn’t take place, it was also announced that a remake of Daiei’s other classic monstrosity, DAIMAJIN, is being planned out as we speak. It’s good to be a daikaiju fan these days.

While we’re on the subject of the King of the Monsters, the third and final trailer for his latest opus, GODZILLA X MECHAGODZILLA, has just gone online. Check it out!

Getting back to the battle of the super slashers referenced above, Robert England spilled the beans, well most of them anyway, to MTV about the plot to FREDDY VS. JASON. Quoting England, Oooookay!

Revolution Studios, the same folks that have given the world such cinematic landmarks as XXX, THE FAST & THE FURIOUS, and THE NEW GUY have picked up the rights to make a big screen version of the prototypical 80s action show KNIGHT RIDER. While this is not new news, the latest comes courtesy of Ain’t It Cool News, who are reporting that the studio wants to cast Vin Diesel in the role that David Hasselhoff famous. Say what? Excuse me, Mr. Diesel, but you are no Hasselhoff! Hell, I think Steven Seagal as Michael Knight would be better casting here than Vin Diesel. Somebody needs to break the news to the folks at Revolution Studios that Mr. Diesel’s droll personality is all wrong for this type of movie. I mean, they can’t possibly be planning on not making it campy right?

I don’t know about you, but Hollywood just can’t make enough FAST & THE FURIOUS knock-offs for my taste. I don’t know about you, but I just can’t make enough sarcastic quips fast enough. The latest is TORQUE, which is being described as “THE FAST & THE FURIOUS on two wheels.” Long story short, it stars Ice Cube and it’s about the underground world of illegal motorcycle street racing. TORQUE rides into theaters March 2003. I know I won’t be there on opening night.

Speaking of musicians and motorcycles, the official website for Kid Rock’s upcoming film BIKER BOYZ just opened up at (DUH!) www.bikerboyz.com. I can’t tell you anything more because I just can’t bring myself to surf over there.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been itching for a movie about killer flies for quite some time now. Seriously though, there is actually such a movie and according to Creature Corner, it’s actually getting good word of mouth on the independent film festival circuit. The film entitled INFESTED tells the tale of a group of friends that are brought together for the funeral of another friend only to end up in a fight for the very lives against a swarm of killer flies that eats their victims from the inside out. Sounds like a real date movie if you ask me! Keep an eye out for this one.

In a follow-up on a recent report by Chadzilla, George Clooney’s ass has been given a PG-13 by the MPAA. Seems after a lot of wrangling on the part of SOLARIS’s director Steven Soderbergh, the MPAA reversed their initial R rating. Someone actually tried to reason with the all-knowing, all-powerful Jack Valenti and succeeded? Wow! That Soderbergh must really be some kind of true genius.

And finally, to end this report with a real howler, Dark Horizons reports that John Travolta rumored to be playing JR Ewing in the big screen version of DALLAS. Insert your own punchline here.

Good evening, Mr. & Mrs. Fanboy and all the geeks at sea…let’s go to press!

First up, a rather unpleasant bit of news from The Hollywood Reporter. A big screen, live action version of the Curious George children’s books is in the works over at Universal under the guidance of Ron Howard’s ERASERHEADed partner-in-crime Brian Grazer. While that’s hardly the worst idea in the world, the next one I can already say without question is! Grazer is also producing a remake of the 50s sci-fi classic THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN. What’s another pointless remake right? Well, this remake will be directed by Keenan (SCARY MOVIE) Ivory (SCARY MOVIE 2) Wayans! Just imagine all the bodily fluid gross out gags you can do with a one-inch man! Granted, there is no word yet whether or not it will be a comedy or a thriller in the vein of the original, but if you’ve ever seen Mr. Wayans attempt at doing an action thriller, MOST WANTED, then you already know nothing good will come from this!

If all goes well with the latest James Bond flick, DIE ANOTHER DAY, it looks like new Bond girl Halle Berry will get her own spin-off film based on her character, Jinx. Zap2It quotes producer Barbera Broccoli, "There are talks about it, we are considering it. It's about time for a strong female action star.” Umm…memo to Miss Broccoli: ALIAS, BUFFY, XENA, TOMB RAIDER… I don’t know where you’ve been, but a strong female action star isn’t an unheard of concept these days.

Thanks to Upcoming Movies, here’s a few notes on the big screen, live action version of THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!, which is being directed by Jonathan Frakes. Universal has tagged the film to be their big family blockbuster for the summer of 2004. In the original series, the Tracy sons were supposed to be in their mid-20s. Well, the production is going for more of a SPY KIDS feel so the sons will now range from 8 to 16. Then comes the clincher that guarantees the film will suck. It'’ being written by William Osbourne, whose screenwriting credits include THE SCORPION KING, THE REAL MCCOY, GHOST IN THE MACHINE, and DR. JECKYLL AND MS. HYDE. Now think for a second about all the talented screenwriters out there who can’t get work, yet this guy is making more money than most of us will ever see in a lifetime. Sigh.

The Bristol Herald-Courier (Anyone ever heard of this newspaper? Anyone? Bueller?) reports that pop princess Britany Spears is being considered for the role of “daughter Judy” in a big screen, live action movie based on THE JETSONS. And maybe Justin Timberlake can play Astro?

For those of you who are waiting on pins and needles to see THE CORE, you’ll have to wait until March 28, 2003, which is the film’s new official release date according to Coming Soon.

And remember bad movie watchers, today is Veteran’s Day, so why don’t you honor our fallen soldiers by not watching that horrendous horror movie called UNCLE SAM! Our fighting men and women deserve so much better.
