Studio 360, a show produced by Public Radio International, is running a show on natural disasters this week. One of the segments deals with Godzilla and his connection to the forces of nature. Listen carefully and you'll hear the voices of some familiar names here at badmovies.net. You can listen online with RealPlayer, check the listings for your local NPR station, or buy the episode in a downloadable format from Audible.com.

Hi all, back from vacation in time for the weekend and ready to watch my DVD of Eight Legged Freaks! But first,
Misty Mundae's website (www.mistymundae.com) had been updated with hilarious plot descriptions of Satan's School for Lust (a Sapphic thriller 'inspired' by the movies of Jess Franco, Joe Sarno, and Jean Rollin, oh goodie!), The Lord of the G-String: Femaleship of the String, and behind the scenes looks at the productions of Spiderbabe and Vampire Vixen, the long-awaited (by somebody) sequel to The Vampire's Seduction.
Oh, and there are pictures too.
Fangoria confirms what I knew was inevitable. There will be a Jurassic Park 4! According to the Hollywood Reporter William (Tripoli) Monahan has been hired to draft a script and Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy will produce. In interviews Sam Neill has stated that his character would be returning -- so much for his "JP3 is my last one" comments.
Dead Alive productions is releasing something called Monsturd (!?!) April 8, 2003. Something tells me, with a title like that, that it's going to stink. Sequel fans will be pleased to know that Piranha II: The Spawning will hit DVD racks January 28 and a Special Edition of Predator 2 goes on the hunt February 4th!
There is currently a dust-up over George Clooney's buttocks. The MPAA saw Solaris and thought that director Steve Soderbergh shows enough Clooney Cheek to mandate an R rating, the studio and the director disagree and Soderbergh refuses to trim the footage. Cinescape carries the article, but no clips of the R rated footage. Sorry ladies (or guys, not that there is anything wrong with that!).
More news as it slides out from under the rocks.

R.I.P. Antonio Margheriti
The Associated Press reports that Italian film director Antonio Margheriti aka Anthony Dawson, died November 4 2002 of a heart attack at the age of 72. Margheriti was best known to b-movie fans as the director of science fiction and horror films like Yor, Hunter from the Future, Invasion of the Flesh Hunters, Wild Wild Planet, Horror Castle, and the lusciously-titled Hercules Against Karate.

MAJOR BREAKING NEWS!!!
In the final conclusive proof that everybody in the entertainment industry is completely insane, The Hollywood Reporter brings us news that Pac-Man is heading to the big screen as a (!) live action fantasy adventure. International production and distribution company Crystal Sky has reached a deal with Pac-Man's Japanese developers and distributors Namco & Gaga to make a feature film. Seriously, you cant make this stuff up! Crystal Skys president told The Hollywood Reporter, There is no other game title bigger than 'Pac-Man.' From children to their parents, 'Pac-Man' is a name everyone knows and loves. I wonder if this guy is smoking from the same pipe that the producers of the WHERES WALDO? movie are? No writer or director have been announced yet, but let me be the first to recommend Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin so that they can give the world a faster, sleeker, hungrier Pac-Man that moves at speeds of up to 200 mph. Or how about a dark, gothic Pac-Man movie directed by Tim Burton? I for one cant wait to hear P.O.D. perform a hard rockin remake of Pac-Man Fever for the soundtrack. Whether or not this film will ever actually get made remains to be seen, but at least it gets the world that much closer to that live-action Dig Dug movie Ive been secretly longing for.

R.I.P. Round-up
There has been a lot of sad news for b-movie fans over the last week or so. Several familiar faces have passed away.
Cheryl "Rainbeaux" Smith, b-movie actress best known for roles in Caged Heat and Revenge of the Cheerleaders, died October 25 2002 from hepatitis complications. She was 47.
Lo Lieh aka Wong Lap-Dat, a regular in the Shaw Brothers kung fu films of the '70s, died November 2 2002 of an apparent heart attack. He was 63. His most prominent films included Five Fingers of Death and The Stranger and the Gunfighter.
Johnathan Harris, best known for his role as Dr. Zachary Smith on the TV series Lost in Space, died at age 87 on November 3 2002. Harris's death was caused by a blood clot in the heart. After Lost in Space, Harris lent his voice to a number of television series, including Battlestar Galactica, Darkwing Duck, and My Favorite Martians, as well as the Pixar films A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2.
They will all be missed.

Happy Halloween everybody! Yeah, Im late. Sue me! Hey, I could be playing GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY right now, but instead Im here to report the latest news, so back off, bucko! I swear to God that what I am about to tell you is not a joke although it will certainly seem like it. CHUD reports that Paramount and Nickelodeon are teaming up to produce a big screen feature based on the WHERES WALDO childrens books. You know, a friend and I used to joke about such a film and now somebody it turns out there are actually people in Hollywood stupid enough to spend millions of dollars to make it. I just hope they dont put Waldo on-screen anytime in the first 30 minutes or else a lot of people are going to feel ripped off. No word yet on whether the film will be animated or live action or what drugs the people at Paramount and Nickelodeon were high on when they greenlit this project.
The self-proclaimed King of All Media is preparing to conquer the world of film once again. This time, however, radio shock jock Howard Stern will be taking on a behind the scenes producing role. Stern is set to produce remakes of two (cough) classics of 80s cinema, PORKYS and ROCK N ROLL HIGH SCHOOL. Isnt a remake of PORKYS rather redundant since that is essentially what AMERICAN PIE was? As for the ROCK N ROLL HIGH SCHOOL remake, Stern is looking for a not yet famous rock band to introduce to build the movie around and help make famous much as the original helped do for The Ramones. At this rate, remakes of REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS and PRIVATE SCHOOL shouldnt be too far behind.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the same folks behind the new movie based on THE PHANTOM are also planning to bring MANDRAKE THE MAGICIAN to the big screen. The Mandrake character was another creation of Lee Falk, creator of THE PHANTOM. No word yet on whether or not this film will also feature MATRIX-style kung fu because, as we all know, EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH MATRIX-STYLE KUNG FU!!!
The Hollywood Reporter also mentions that Americas favorite dad Ozzy Osbourne is close to signing a deal with a major studio to do a biopic about him, which will be co-written by Osbournes wife, Sharon. Ozzy himself has said he will not star in it, but would like Johnny Depp. Id pick Dan Haggerty myself.
Now get this one. MGM is developing a comedy called WHEELS OF FURY, which will be about an '80s cop whose partner is a talking car. The cop falls into a coma and wakes up 16 years later to learn what sort of naughty antics his vehicle has been up to during that time. Uh-huh. So essentially, its going to be KNIGHT RIDER except its supposed to be intentionally funny? Doesnt that defeat the purpose? Empire Online says the film is being touted as KNIGHT RIDER meets AUSTIN POWERS and CHUD reports that one of the screenwriters of the forth- coming direct-to-video INSPECTOR GADGET 2 will be working on the script. Wheres Hasselhoff when you need him?
Its official
Snoop Dogg will be playing Huggy Bear in the upcoming big screen version of the 70s cop series STARSKY & HUTCH. Owen Wilson, who is co-starring with Ben Stiller in the tongue-in-cheek actioner, confirmed this bit of casting on Craig Kilborns late night talk show last week. For Wilsons sake, I hope its better than I SPY.
Speaking of an odd coupling, Nickelodeon Films is teaming up with John Woo of all people to produce a big-screen, all CGI MIGHTY MOUSE movie. Moviehole states that action master Woo will be acting as a producer for the film. I wonder if Mighty Mouse will don black shades and battle villains with a pistol in each hand?
Just 24 hours until TAIL STING hits home video. Whats that? Why, its TURBULENCE meets KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS minus any semblance of a budget. Actually, I dont really know much about it other than its some cheap sci-fi thriller about genetically engineered super scorpions that get loose on board a passenger plane. Sounds really bad, so, of course, Im looking forward to seeing it. Expect a review of it by your truly up at Creature Corner in the next few days.
Also coming out tomorrow is THE FRATERNITY, the latest rich kid prep school thriller. The film actually bills itself as being CRUEL INTENTIONS meets THE SKULLS. This hyperbole is even more ironic because the film stars Robin Dunne, who starred in CRUEL INTENTIONS 2 and THE SKULLS 2. Oh, Treat Williams also shows up to collect a brief paycheck.
And if that werent enough, also coming out tomorrow is VOODOO TAILZ, which I know absolutely nothing about whatsoever other than, and Im guessing here, that its probably going to turn out to be an anthology horror flick with a predominantly African-American cast.
I suspect the rest of the movie renting public tomorrow will be too busy snatching up copies of THE DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD and genre fans will be all over DOG SOLDIERS & SPIDER-MAN.
Finally, in one of those only in Hollywood bits of news, RUDY!, the upcoming biopic of former New York City mayor Rudolph Guliani will be filmed on location in Montreal, Canada! GOD BLESS HOLLYWOOD!!!
Thats it for me. Back to Vice City. More news, views, and skews to come.

Bruce Campbell: The Man With Many Projects
In addition to the possible new book project we reported a few days ago, it looks as if Bruce Campbell will continue his work as a Jack of All Trades. Sorry – that was a bit of a tease for fans of the cancelled Jack TV series, which will not be returning to the air. Instead, Sci Fi Wire reports that Campbell has two new telefilm projects in the works for the Sci Fi Channel: one, a longtime pet project entitled The Man With the Screaming Brain, for which Campbell will write, produce, direct, and act. The second film, Earwigs, "was inspired by the creatures made famous in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan." Work will begin on the first of the two films in April of next year, which means we'll probably see it in the Fall of 2003.
